Big Changes to UK Care Worker Visa Rules - Summer 2025 Update 🚨

If your organisation relies on recruiting care workers from overseas, please take note: the Home Office has introduced major reforms to the Skilled Worker and Health & Care Worker visa system which took effect on 22nd July 2025.

What’s changed: 

  • From July 2025, care providers will no longer be able to sponsor new overseas care workers under SOC codes 6135/6136.

  • New visa salary thresholds mean many lower-band care roles are now ineligible for sponsorship.

  • Stricter compliance checks, including revoking sponsor licenses and tightening audits. 

  • Employers must now show they’ve tried to recruit in the UK before applying to sponsor from overseas.
